Meet the Team

Mimi grew up in the Santa Cruz Mountains climbing trees, rolling in the mud, picking flowers, and playing like kids do! This set her on a lifelong trajectory of helping connect people with nature. Before becoming a mom, she worked as a naturalist interpreter and rock climbing guide in Yosemite National Park in the summers, and at nature schools in the winters. She started BNS to form a community of families that share a connection with nature and each other!

My son is about to begin his third school year with Mimi and Nate at Bishop Nature School. We love that they have helped provide my son an outdoor environment away from screens and that he is very used to being outside for extended periods of time. He loves the activities, stories, songs, and always has fabulous tales of adventure and fun. Most importantly, Mimi has helped guide early socialization in a caring and logical manner. We highly recommend the Bishop Nature School!

Bishop Nature School is the best! Mimi is such an amazing leader for this program. She is personally passionate about the outdoors and distills that love and respect of nature into the children. I love her philosophy and teaching on being respectful to others – people, animals, plants, and places. She treats the children with kindness and respect and encourages them to do so with others, while allowing exploration of feelings and ideas. I love how my children have learned to cooperate and play creatively with others in the outdoors from the time they spend and lessons they learn at nature school. I’m so grateful for this program in our community. My children have thrived and learned so much from outdoor play and learning facilitated by Mimi.
